Regenerative Medicine Q & A

What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine focuses on harnessing the natural healing powers of your body. Regenerative therapies stimulate your body to heal itself at a cellular level to relieve chronic pain and inflammation that interferes with your quality of life.

At Quantum Foot and Ankle Group, PC, Dr. Wright offers innovative regenerative medicine to treat conditions that affect your foot and ankle health, such as:

  • Arthritis

  • Bursitis

  • Tendinitis

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Achilles tendinitis

You may also benefit from regenerative medicine if you have persistent pain from muscle overuse common in sports and jobs that require repetitive movements.

What regenerative medicine therapies are available?

To address a wide variety of painful foot and ankle conditions, Dr. Wright offers regenerative therapies like:

Extracorporeal pulse activation technology (EPAT®)

EPAT, or orthotripsy, is a noninvasive procedure that can decrease the pain from overuse injuries in the lower extremities.  The concept of using pulse activation technology was developed by Storz medical in the development of lithotripsy which is commonly used in the treatment of kidney stones.  Years of successful management of kidney stones with lithotripsy has led to the development of orthotripsy in the management of various lower extremity pathologies such as plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, capsulitis, and even bursitis.

By delivering pulse energy into the painful tissues, Dr. Wright can improve your blood circulation and increase the efficiency of your healing processes. EPAT can also help you heal faster than you might without therapy.

Stem cell-derived therapies

Stem cell-derived therapies involve injections of fluids collected from the umbilical cord stem cells into the area of your injury. The screened donor fluids contain stem cells that are important for healing.

Stem cells have the unique ability to regenerate into any type of cell, including soft tissue, bone, and nerve.

Dr. Wright injects a high concentration of stem cells into your foot or ankle to trigger the growth of new, healthy cells. These cells take the place of damaged cells to heal tendon tears and muscle strains, and reduce painful inflammation.

What are the benefits of regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine offers many benefits in the treatment of chronic foot or ankle pain. These therapies are minimally invasive and can help you put off or avoid the need for surgery.

Dr. Wright performs regenerative therapies in the office and ensures you’re comfortable and pain-free. He customizes a treatment plan to your needs using these therapies to treat existing pain and prevent additional foot or ankle injuries.

It can take several weeks to see the optimal benefits of regenerative medicine therapies, but your results can be long-lasting. By addressing the underlying cause of your pain, EPAT and stem cell-derived therapies can provide you with long-term pain and inflammation relief.
